Our Business

 Every cake made is customized to the individual’s needs and desires.  Sue will personally sit with you and listen to your specific requests and answer any questions.  She is involved in all aspects of the creation of your cake.  Thank you notes from satisfied brides and customers are available for you to review.  Every customer is treated like part of the family. For a special treat or a cake for any occasion, pay us a visit, stay a while, and allow us to share with you the time honored tradition that has made us what we are today.  We are worth the trip!

Who We Are

For over thirty years, Sue Baisden has been baking and decorating wedding cakes and desserts for the special occasions of family and friends. Because of her delectable recipes and eye for beauty, her talent was consistently in high demand. Sue eventually started her bakery, out of her home, with an identity defined by her classy, elegant style, incredibly moist cakes, and buttercream made from the finest ingredients.

Catering to the increasing demand, Sue and husband Gary, worked together to open the first cake shop storefront. On March 21st of 2009, the Capital City Cakes opened its doors at 3018 E. Broad St. in historic Columbus/Bexley, Ohio area. Their cake shop has since been featured multiple times in the local media, garnering attention for its distinct designs and from-scratch buttercream that tops our  desserts.
